Interior Architecture Design III
PROJECT02: Engage, Provoke, Inspire
Project Brief
Based on explored interest, we are to create an 'experimental art' and provoke the art by applying a combination of two selected processes and determine the function of it.
A1 Presentation Board
Experimental art - A4 based sculpture piece + model

Rationale ( 200words )
My obsession is singing specialized in Acapella, therefore my creative hub is going to be a creative music academy or studio. The concept of the hub is “SENTIMENTS IN THE CHANTS” which means emotions in the choruses.
I am trying to bring out the concept of how every different song genre shows different emotions and feelings. The sculpture shows the differences of the varies genres, for example, rock is shape into sharp edges, ballad is shape into soft gentle lines and pop is shape into interesting and popping lines. The sculpture also shows how are the different elements are related to each other. The other side it shows that mouth is the best instrument for acapella singers to reach out their voices to the audiences and delivers truest emotions of the song. The processes involved upcycling and sculpting. The target users of the hub are mainly teens between 10yo and 25yo who are passionate in singing, and the white collars around The Row who needs a relaxing place to go to. Sentiments in the chants included a reception counter, singing classrooms, creative lab where users can experience making instruments with recycled materials, a resource area, booth for merchandise and products (instruments made by recycled materials) and also a stage place for members/students to perform and visitors to enjoy watching.
Reflection
For this project, we have to first identify our obsession/passion, explore and dig into our obsession. My obsession is singing, especially in Acapella. Ive been practising acapella for ten years since I was just a child. Ive learnt that programming planning isn't just placing the spaces whether functional or non-functional into an interior space, but to understand the size a certain program needs, the requirements and the conditions of it. By the side, I also learnt how to apply the two processes I have chosen which are sculpt and upcycle out of the eight options we have ( weave, knit, engrave, mould, sculpt, upcycle, paint, weld, fold and carve ) into into a sculptural model. I also gained knowledges on the aspect of processes and functions of my obsession -- singing.
