building construction 1
Assignment I : Experiencing Construction
On the first Building Construction ( BLD60303 ) lecture, our lecturer has introduced us our first assignment which is assignment 1: Experiencing Construction. Lecturer assigned us into groups of five or six by our own.
After the explanation of lecturer, we get to know that our task is to select an ongoing construction site which visibly demonstrates most of the subject topics covered in the syllabus and our selected site should be a medium rise or low rise building. The aim is to expose and introduce students to various construction elements by visiting construction sites. It also intends to enhance the understanding of principles of construction, sequence of construction activities, importance of basic detailing, construction joints and material application through real life projects. It also creates an opportunity to study the relationship between site and construction method. Im honoured to be in the same group with Wong JIn Shyan, Lee HyeongHun, Emily Ong and William Quek. After researching and discussing, we have selected a residential building located at Subang Heights.
Before that, another group in the class suggested and invited us to visit another construction site which is located at Janda Baik, Pahang. The construction method and technology are slightly different from the mainstream normal construction method and technology, but at here am not going to share or penetrates that as much.
What shown in below are photo compilation of the residential building we visited and the slideshow of our presentation.

Assignment 2 : Construction details and specifications
For our second assignment, We are required to complete this project in individual form. Project2 (Construction detail and specification) involves understanding the construction detail and specification of a simple building that made out of steel and/or timber. This project is designed to allow the application of knowledge of construction detail and specification into students' design.
