community service initiative-weekly blog
Week 1 : 16/04/2020
In my week 1 for Community Service Initiative subject, I have grouped up with Lim Lyi Cyia, Heather Wong and Ong Jia Min. After grouping and briefed by Ms.Norji about our assignment and tasks coning on, we have a discussion on WhatsApp too. The discussion is about what topics in Cyber security will we be focusing on. After brainstorming and discussion, we decided to choose flaming among fraud, flaming, harassment issues. Below attached are our conversations.

Week 2 : 23/04/2020
In this week, we had our discussion on zoom platform and worked together :D Based on the discussion, we had came out with a series of research data on flaming. The five basic keywords that must not be ignored which are WHO, HOW, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and WHY of FLAMING. As it will be only our first progression showing, we decided to go with a clean and simple theme that we found on canva. WE didnt really divided the tasks as we are still unsure on all the content yet so we do it together online by Microsoft Project application.

Week 3 : 30/04/2020
We discussed and worked together for our info-graphic proposal on flaming issue. Our proposal is THEBOT system. We decided to narrow down the target user group to e sports gamer or online gamer. The platforms will be gaming platform and software Discord, Twitch or Stream. Gamer would usually use the software while they are gaming, they can communicate with their team members online by using the software. However, its also where the flaming usually happens other than in-game moments. Me and Jia Min are gaming regularly in the group by the way :P. We never flamed someone but we did experienced the flaming online. Hence, we brainstormed and came up with a solution. The main functions of THEBOT system will be MARKS, MUTE and BOT. MARKS - users will have to follow the rules and behave themselves in order to maintain the marks. Once their marks got deducted to a certain level, they will be banned from the gaming platforms. MUTE - users can use this demand to mute all the disturbing and offensive messages from all the other gamers. BOT - users can summon the bot to calm them down. Users are expected to become more discipline and gain sympathy for all the other individuals out there.
But after tutorial, we found out that this proposal might take too much time and unnecessary efforts. So now, our decision is to produce info-graphic poster.

Week 4 : 07/05/2020
After discussion, we decided to remain the pixel theme from last week. We inserted our researches into a montage-inforgraphic poster. Also we decided to look wider for our target user, instead of just aiming for the gamers, we have moved our target user to all the internet user, since flaming can be happened to all of us, and not only to the gamers. We also tried to play with the color scheme and graphic so ithe poster would look more interesting in order to draw public's attention online.

Below attached is the feedback from Ms.Norji on our padlet.

Week 5 : 14/05/2020
This week, we had a proposal presentation with Ms. Norji, Mr. Redzwan and fellow external panels from Cyber Security Malaysia. We presented our proposal in several piece of info-graphics.

General feedback that we get back:
- Be aware the use of font size, color and type.
- Be aware of the paper size
- Think about our targeted platform (insta? facebook?)
- Information are too cramp together ( on board 1 and board 3)
- More detailed information on board 2 ( Hidden identity and etc.. )
- Think about actually making our proposal work ( making the video of the challenge )
Week 6 : 21/05/2020
Today we have proposed our latest proposal to Mr. Redzwan that based on last week comment we got from Ms. Norji, Mr. Redzwan and fellow external panels from Cyber Security Malaysia. We have remained our ideas and graphic but we have split our work into 14 pages of Instastory spreads and minimise the infos as it will be easier for users to read on it.
Feedback that we get back:
- Start working out on the proposal
- Posting the info we had on personal platform and show it next week (then only start to proceed by creating an account for our proposal)
- Work on the animation of the Instastory
Week 7 : 28/05/2020
This week, we are supposed to submit our 500words proposal onto times. We divided the tasks into the way
Heather: Intro, issue statement
Sang: SWOT analysis
Lyicyia: Solution
Jiamin: Benefit, expected results
We worked together in Google doc and the proposal came with around 1000words, also we inserted our proposal graphics into the proposal.

Week 8 : 04/06/2020
This week, we have worked together and merged our graphics into a shortvideo. We want to make sure every step we took online is carefully counted, so we decided to post it as a story highlight (a story with time limit around 24hours) first. We then promoted to our respective groups of followers, friends, family members to increase the exposure of our project account. We have try to access to our project account @csixflaming by using our personal accounts too to make sure the perspective of a normal user will find this interesting and the hastash #DontFlameForOwnFame is accessible.
Feedback that we get back:
- Create a sign/ logo to unite the insta story, make it looks like one and produce from the same group instead of different members
- Collect more data (response) from the insta story
Week 9 : 11/06/2020
We have fixed the animation video based on the feedback that we got last week which was to insert a same logo or sign (Taylor's logo, Ministry of Education Malaysia logo and Cyber Security Malaysia ) which to unite the graphic video, make it look like one and produce from the same group.
Fortunately and surprisingly, we have received really good and amazing feedbacks from all users that are from everywhere! We also hope to see more response and people actually doing the hashtag challenge in the near future!
Feedback we got for this week:
- We should start working on the Instagram posts instead of the story.
- Make the type of contents like a feeling of " teaser " where it should lead the users wanting for more information about this hashtag challenge.
- Interactive content like " press button ... " and " pick A or B "
Week 10 : 18/06/2020
In this week, we have started working on our Instagram posts and the contents. We have discussions on the post style and content and came out with a plan that we all agreed and are satisfied with. We will avoid dull colours and present more vibrant colours, one to three posts a day for a week to keep the instagram account "alive" and draw attentions from public, the contents included daily countdown to the challenge commencing date, inspiring or powerful quotes that are related to anti-flaming and some facts. Other than that, we found out that by using the hashtag and Instagram's insight function, its so easy to track down the activities of our posts (who reposted/viewed/forwarded/saved our posts)

Reflection
I am extremely grateful to be in the same team with Lyi Cyia, Heather and Jia Min and also be under the guidance of Miss Norji and Mr.Redzwan. Through this whole project i have learnt a lot. In the whole internet world, different kinds of internet crime would happen and there is barely anything for us to do to change. But we as a team we really stood in the victims' shoes and we figured out an interesting and efficient way to at least change the mind and perspectives of the bullies. I also learnt the importance of teamwork, time management and communication skill. During this MCO period, my teammates and I are unable to meet in real life but fortunately our communications are going on very well and we are able to meet up via zoom every week to produce works.
