Interior Architecture Design II
Project 2A : Compact : Sit + Site
SITE VISIT : PULAU PERHENTIAN
To understand a project, a survey or research is needed in order for us to understand the situation, condition, requirements and needs of the end-user. It is a checklist of completed inventory as a preparatory step primarily dealing with basic data as it relates to a specific site.
The project will give a chance to the students to explore design in an actual context. Students will be OBSERVING, COLLECTING, ANALYZING, COMPARING and NOTICING PATTERNS in getting their information for their project. This will enhance the learning experience away from the studios and classrooms. The objective of the site visit is to observe the community activities and site visitation/location of the students' projects. They also have to explore their sensitivity towards the surrounding in conerning the cultural and activities aspect of Pulau Perhentian that can be appropriate for their design project.
Students will engage with site exploration and task activities, all aimed at enhancing their experiential learning of experiential and experimentation process. In addition, the trip aims to expose the students to explorative data collection determined to establish it with the requirement of the final project.
For this assignment, we are required to work in a group formed by 4-5. I am glad to be in the same group which is OSERVE with Lee Ning, Lee Hyeong Hun and Sunny Chung Cheng Hong. After the amazing 3D2N design excursion trip/ site visit to Pulau Perhentian which is located at Terrengganu, Malaysia, all of the students had collected enough informations including sketches, photos, objects and others that might help on this project. For our group OBSERVE, we have to get ourselves involved to the context (The Perhentian Islands), observe the surroundings and come with an outcome of PRESENTATION BOARD, JOURNAL ITINERARIES AND SITE FINDINGS. We definitely learnt a lot and below is our presentation board of OBSERVE.
